ABSTRACT | ||
Partition is a huge history left for every Bengali. In the literary arena, different writers have presented pieces of that history in different ways. Through that presentation, the truth of the common people, the cries of those who lost their land, the autobiographies of the humiliated people, etc. have emerged. In the country where Rabindranath Tagore had free rein, the description of how his predecessors lived together in unity is scattered throughout most of the two stories. The partition, due to which people were uprooted from their roots, the people who spent day and night trying to explore themselves and their land, has become the subject of the stories of the two writers. Two widely discussed stories in the literary arena, one of which is "Adab" written by Samaresh Basu and the other is "Du-Banglar Mati" written by Kona Basu Mishra, have thoroughly analyzed these uprooted people, the characters in the stories written by the storytellers have emerged as spokespersons for some of the people who still break down in tears when reminiscing about the painful hearts of those who have lost their relatives. The main purpose of the discussion is to explore what the consequences of the partition have become for the current generation and at the same time; to find out from which source the two stories have merged into one estuary. Even after so many years of partition, does that pain still remain in the hearts of those who have lost their land? Is partition only a memory of today's old people, has the new generation come a long way by breaking such a web of illusion? Moreover, in both stories, we will try to find a unique dimension of friendship and our exploration is there. | ||
