ABSTRACT | ||
The book ‘Meyeli Sanglap’ by Sutapa Bhattacharya, written in the style of chat-diary and storytelling(2005), is an original experience of women’s empowerment and the expression of women’s own voices. In this book, beyond the pattern of conventional language, the author have deliberated women’s issues- the world of discussion, dialogue - conversation, poetry - songs and contemporary events. This book is not just human, but also a guide of humanistic thought and shows the way for women liberation. In the fictional gathering of friends named ‘Sakhi-Sanglap’( Friendship conversation), very subtly, an inspired message to society is presented through women’s discussions. The writer has created a fictional gathering called ‘Bandhusabha’ with the new inauguration of ‘Sakhi-sanglap’. In this gathering, the writer has placed various fictional female characters in the forefront, and the analysis of those writings is done in other’s voice. In this framework, human life and humanistic life are discussed. Here some important topics that have emerged are women’s bondage, marriage, family, independence, abortion, culture, politics, social politics, sexual freedom, religion, education-skills, laws- regulations related with women empowerment and various aspects of artistic expression. To show the voice of women, the writer sets the examples from various fields of literature and real facts. As a responsible citizen, she claims justice to save the legacy & heritage of independent women and their voice of love. The final refuge of this discussion is Rabindranath Tagore. In this tradition ‘Meyeli Sanglap’ is not just about women’s word or dialogue, it rises from being bound to a humanistic conversation. | ||
