Women in the Fiction of Swarnakumari Devi (Selected Works)

ABSTRACT
Swarnakumari Devi is notable as a prominent female writer of the 19th century. Her contribution to every branch of literature is considerable. However, it can be said without a doubt that, not in the glory of being the first in judging historical information, but in her ability to be consistant. Her works are quite important in terms of excellence. In the 19th century, Swarnakumari Devi educated in the exceptional education of the Tagore family of Jorasanka. She was one of the main figures in introducing a modern trand in Bengali literature. She possessed extraordinary talent, wrote and after another a variety of diverse literature. She wrote Songs, Poems, plays, essays, Novels, Short-stories etc. She also edited the Bengali magazine ‘Bharati’ at two stages.
 
    Swarnakumari Devi established the sakhi-samiti and the Mahila Shilpashram and shilpa-Mela for the welfare of women, Service to the homeland and sense of nationalism. She was the president of the Ladies Theosophical Society. Women’s education. There is no doubt that the seeds of the work Organized for the expansion and advancement of women all over the world in this Bangasamiti were planted in the ideals and methods of Swarnakumari’s Sakhi-samiti. Her constructive mentality is deeply rooted in her Originated from patriotism. In addition, Swarnakumari Devi was one of the female delegates to the fifth Session of the national congrass. The renowned writer and patriot Swarnakumari was honored with the Jagattarini Gold Medal by the University of Calcutta in 1927. She will be forever remembered in the history of Bengali women’s discourse for the pain and sympathy for the women Society.
