Women in the View of Swami Vivekananda: A Study Sajna Khatun, Student, Kazi Nazrul University, West Bengal, India
ABSTRACT | ||
According to Swami Vivekananda, female power (Shakti) is the focal point of all energy. This power is what the world needs most right now, whether in this country or abroad. This is only the beginning; in time, this feminine force will take on a majestic form across the entire world. In Swamiji’s eyes, even a woman in prostitution was an embodiment of the Divine Mother (Mahamaya). The core mantra of all his teachings was Atman-Tattva, or the awakening of the inherent divinity within humanity. He believed that both men and women have an equal right to attain this self-knowledge. He questioned: "If a man can become a knower of Brahman (Brahmagyani), why can't a woman?" He believed if even one woman attains such spiritual enlightenment, her brilliance will awaken thousands of others, leading to the welfare of the country and society.
