ABSTRACT | ||
Samaresh Basu transform his real name to pseudonymous
which represents a complex negotiation between realism, political expressionism
and creative rejuvenation. Basu famously adopted pseudonym ‘Kalkut’ to explore
theme distinct from his realist social fiction. Under this pseudonym Samaresh
Basu various philosophical narratives and introspective works moves beyond strict
social realism ontology. Further basu’s narrative voice exponentially shifts
from extreme political to the existential or living crisis which demonstrates how
the pen name allowed Samaresh Basu to reconstruct his literary identity at
large. Thus, this article tries to highlight how the literary identity of
Samaresh Basu has exponentially shifted as well as ornamentally enriched
efficacy of pseudonym as ‘Kalkut’ has been engraved to his original names or
pseudonym. Besides by adopting multiple pen names or pseudonyms Samaresh Basu
effectively creates parallel narrative selves which portray distinct dimension
of Bengali society. i.e. it’s long political struggle, spiritual quest and
sexual subjectivity. | ||
