ABSTRACT | ||
Paṇḍit Ṥrîjîb Nyāyatiîrtha is a distinguished name in
the realms of Sanskrit literature. His literary oeuvre is primarily shaped by a
synthesis of Sanskrit drama, farce, poetry, and social consciousness. While
adhering to classical dramatic traditions, he has given literary expression to
contemporary life issues, human values, social inequalities, moral degradation,
and various facets of national consciousness. A unique blend of tradition and
modernity is evident in his writings. His satirical perspective, artistic use
of language, and profound observation of human life—particularly in his
contemporary problem-oriented farces and plays—have earned him a unique
stature. This research study analyzes the thematic content, artistic style,
social consciousness, and philosophical aspects of Ṥrîjîb Nyāyatiîrtha’s
literary works. His writings reflect not merely entertainment but also an
educational and thought-provoking perspective. Therefore, he is regarded as a
significant figure in modern Sanskrit literature. The research paper under
discussion attempts to evaluate his literary contributions and determine his
position within the tradition of Sanskrit drama.
