ABSTRACT | ||
The use of Color in the poetry of Paresh Mandal, a significant poet of the 1960s in Bengali literature, constructs dimensions that are simultaneously aesthetic and psychological. Throughout his poetic oeuvre, Color does not remain confined to the visible spectrum but becomes a medium for expressing emotion, consciousness, and living experience. The present paper aims to explores this multidimensional application of Color across the various poems of Paresh Mandal. By analyzing the application of Color at biological, psychological, and cultural levels, the paper demonstrates how the Poet portrays vitality and passion through red, pain and depth through blue, emptiness and loneliness through white, and optimism and life-force through green. Additionally, the shades of darkness, corruption, and social decay emerge through the Color black. Furthermore, this paper elucidates how Color serves as a powerful, symbolic language in Paresh Mandal’s poetry, encapsulating the individual psyche, social consciousness, and the sense of time. | ||
