ABSTRACT | ||
In the field of modern Bengali drama, Manoj Mitra’s contribution deserves special recognition. He has also achieved distinction in writing social dramas. His play Chak Bhanga Madhu is a notable social drama. In this play, he presents a realistic picture of the exploitation carried out by the landlord and moneylender classes in rural society, as well as the helpless suffering of poor common people. Aghor Ghosh symbolizes the oppressive class in the drama, who mercilessly exploits the villagers through the power of wealth and authority. On the other hand, Martala and her daughter Badami represent the oppressed section of society. Hunger, poverty, and humiliation devastate their lives. | ||
