ABSTRACT | ||
The identity of fiction writer Sadhan Chattopadhyay is universally recognized in the world of Bengali literature. He will be considered a timeless and universal literary figure for his novels such as ‘Gahin Gang’, ‘Jaltimir’, ‘Matir Antenna’, ‘Shesh Rater Sheyal’, ‘Panihata’, and short stories like ‘Steel-er Chanchu’, ‘Mehogany’, ‘Manshakheko Ghora’, ‘Maharaja Dirghajibi Hon’ etc. However, in addition to short stories and novels, he has written more than 300 essays; and has also done important work in editing of journals and books. In this research article, we will discuss Sadhan Chattopadhyay's role and distinctiveness in book editing. This research article examines the importance of his role not only in the creative writing of stories and novels but also in the broader scope of literary and cultural practice. Sadhan Chattopadhyay’s organizational and editorial role in the context of international literature like that of Maxim Gorky, the partition of India, Bangladeshi literature, the Naxalite movement, short stories of 2000s and Bengali literary practice in Northeast India has been discussed in an analytical manner. | ||
