ABSTRACT
The importance of ethics and values in human society is immense. Man is a social being, and the origin and development of ethics and values are due to the need for that sociality. In India, ancient and complete traditional patterns of ethics and values can be seen in the thinking of society. There are signs of it since the dawn of Indian history, but its prevalence can be seen from Vedic society. The traditional patterns of ethics that can be seen in Vedic culture are observed in the present Indian society. The main source of information for understanding Vedic culture is Vedic literature. Vedic literature is mainly divided into four categories – Samhita, Brahmana, Aranyaka and Upanishads. According to recent chronology, the possible time range of Vedic literature is from 1500 BC to 600 BC, almost a thousand years. The central idea in the ethics of Rigveda is the concept of ritual ‘Rta’.  The main idea of which is a unique thought that unites discipline and morality. Along with this, the concept of religion, karma, is prevalent. Which speaks of the complete development of the individual and society. The concept of Purushaartha has taken place as the main goal of individual life. In the social field, the sense of world brotherhood, community thinking has taken place. In educational thought, attention has been paid to the development of character and personality rather than the improvement of worldly life. The central thought of the Upanishads is the thought of searching for truth. A prayer is mentioned in the search for knowledge of ‘truth’, the highest truth and complete knowledge. The thought of the relationship between nature and man has taken place, the five elements of creation and life, the five elements are mentioned. The idea of harmonious development of nature and man has been given. In the current globalized society, in the context of its decline and degradation, it has special significance in the overall development of man and society. An attempt has been made to highlight that aspect in this article.
