From the Blood Memory of the Language Movement to the Era of Globalization
ABSTRACT | ||
This paper analyzes language as the fundamental basis of human identity and national consciousness. The Language Movement of 1952 demonstrates that the right to language is both a political and a human rights issue, which later laid the foundation for the spirit of the Liberation War. In the era of the global village or globalization, the dominance of English and the influence of technology are creating challenges for mother tongues, leading to the erosion of linguistic diversity and cultural memory. However, language preservation is possible through mother tongue–based education, development of digital content, and social awareness. Protecting the mother tongue means safeguarding identity and cultural plurality.
