ABSTRACT | ||
A political campaign is an organized effort by political parties to win the trust of common people. In the present political campaigning system social media has been playing the role of important weapon for political parties. They used to talk to common people and voters, convey messages and even rally people on social media platforms. Political campaigns through social media have become a compulsory part for modern-day politics. Over the last decade, significant changes have arrived in the world of digital campaigning. A new class of marketers has emerged. These are social media influencers. They engage directly with their audiences through comments, live sessions, and interactive content and this helps to create a sense of community and loyalty. Indian political campaigning has transformed, with politicians embracing digital platforms and influencer campaigning as opinion leaders. Social media influencers and content creators play crucial roles in reshaping the audience. The influencers play an important role in shaping political discourse and driving voter as well as common people engagement on digital platforms. The influencers including comedians, news commentators, satirists and meme-makers, use satire, humour, and creativity to campaign political issues, hold leaders accountable and influence public opinion. Influencer campaigning is now vital for every political parties particularly among youth, utilizing social media platforms. It humanizes political figures, enhancing relatability. Campaigns through the influencers allows politicians to connect directly with common people to shaping public opinion effectively. Influencers have a greater capacity to push boundaries compared to traditional media. There are many influencers who are collaborating with the political parties or individuals for campaigning. By approaching through the influencers politicians are trying to influence the major population of India. In conclusion, the fusion of influencer marketing and content creators in political campaigns is now a trade mark of Indian politics in the digital era. This article contains how social media influencers are revolutionizing political campaigning, what new opportunities it gives, and the challenges that one must face in return. | ||
